a weekend of recording

we met some great new friends and collaborators this weekend - our hearts go out to dick wahlberg, who has offered us his beautiful recording studio, fully equipped with vintage RCA mikes and a warm 1928 steinway concert grand for future cd's.  we're grateful (and fearful) for the chance to memorialize our interpretations to better share with our listeners!

three cheers also to our friends at salle pianos - a truckload of camera, video and lighting equipment and a very intent crew was inspiring enough for us to do more takes of the physically, emotionally and mentally exhausting Shosti Trio than we thought possible.  we thank them all for being so warm hearted and generous - can't wait to see the video!!!

banff update #5

Mark Steinberg, Steph, Gabriel, Mimi, Gilbert Kalish and Barry Shiffman

the journey has been transformative.

we went to banff, curious, eager and anxious.  we heard top-notch young musicians and ensembles perform.  we were madly inspired and honestly scared.  but the generosity of heart and soul and beauty of the people there - the tremendous faculty and the amazingly supportive artists were overwhelming.  we took every opportunity to listen, learn and absorb and we were changed.

playing on the same program with the award-winning cecilia quartet at rolston hall to a sold-out house was a definite highlight!  and masterclasses with two of today's greatest living performers, joel krosnick and gilbert kalish - amazing! being extensively coached by mark steinberg and don and vivian weilerstein - immensely helpful on multiple levels!

thank you, barry shiffman for the opportunity and the experience.  we hope to see you again SOON!  meanwhile, we're letting all of this input marinate and stew for a while and are looking forward to applying everything we have seen, heard and learned to our music making.

WE LOVE BANFF!
